     Captain John Stirling Grierson was born in November 1783 at North Leith, Midlothian, Scotland.1 He was the son of Commander James Falconer Grierson and Elisabeth Taylor.1 He married Ann Grinton.1 He married, secondly, Louisa Bell.1 He married Mary Fuge Hammett.1 He died on 14 February 1851 at age 67 at Torbolton Township, Carlton County, Ontario, Canada.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Navy.1
