     Prince Alexei Obolensky was born on 28 October 1919.1 He was the son of Prince Nikolai Obolensky and Princess Sofia Urusov.1 He married, firstly, Marta Fernström. He and Marta Fernström were divorced in 1956. He married, secondly, Selene Rowntree Smith, daughter of Colonel Walter Smith and Selene Rowntree, on 17 December 1956. He died on 26 February 2006 at age 86.1
     He graduated from Rome University, Rome, ItalyG, with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) He was appointed Fellow, Chartered Institute of Linguists (F.C.I.L.)

     From 17 December 1956, her married name became Obolensky.
