     John Lumley, 4th Lord Lumley was born circa 1492.1 He was the son of Richard Lumley, 3rd Lord Lumley and Anne Conyers.1 He married Joan le Scrope, daughter of Henry le Scrope, 7th Lord Scrope of Bolton.1 He died from 1544 to 1545.1
     He succeeded as the 4th Lord Lumley [E., 1461] on 26 May 1510.1 He was appointed Knight after 1513.1 He fought in the Battle of Flodden on 9 September 1513.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Durham in 1516.1 In 1536 he took part in the Pilgrimage of Grace, but was pardoned.1 In 1545 his barony was forfeited due to the attainder of his elder son.1
