     S/Ldr. Ian Willoughby Bazalgette, V.C. was born on 19 October 1918 at Calgary, Alberta, Canada.3 He was the son of Charles Ian Bazalgette and Marion Edith Bunn.1 He died on 4 August 1944 at age 25 at France, killed in action.1
     He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (D.F.C.) in 1943.3 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Squad Leader in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.1 He was awarded the Victoria Cross (V.C.) posthumously.3
