     He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)¹ He held the office of Lieutenant-Governor of Jersey.¹ He gained the rank of Major-General in the Royal Artillery.¹ He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.)¹

     Colonel Thomas Challenor Martelli was born in 1839 at Bengal, India.² He married Rose Whyte on 20 February 1872 at Fort William, Bengal, India.² He died on 27 August 1910 at 8 Villiers Road, Southsea, Hampshire, England.²
     He gained the rank of Colonel in the Royal Artillery.¹
