     He gained the rank of Captain in the 10th Hussars.¹ He fought in the Peninsular Wars.¹

     Harriett Sophia Dyot-Bucknall was born on 3 September 1799 at St. Marylebone, London, England.¹ She was the daughter of Thomas Skip Dyot-Bucknall and Charlotte Elizabeth Wyndham.¹ She married Arthur Shakespear, son of John Shakespear and Mary Davenport, on 19 October 1818 at St. Georges Church Hanover Square, London, England.¹ She died on 29 September 1877 at age 78 at 4 Delamere Terrace, Paddington, London, England.¹
