     Brig.-Gen. George Macarthur-Onslow was born on 2 May 1875.1 He was the son of Captain Arthur Alexander Walton Onslow and Elizabeth Macarthur.1 He married Violet Marguerite Gordon, daughter of W. F. Gordon, on 16 October 1907.1 He died on 12 September 1931 at age 56.1
     He was given the name of George Onslow at birth.1 He was educated at Rugby School, Rugby, Warwickshire, England.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)1 He gained the rank of Brigadier-General in the Australian Imperial Force.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.)1 He was commander of the 1st Cavalry Division in 1927.1
