     Sir Ralph Rice was born circa 1781.1 He was the son of John Rice and Frances Plumbe.1 He married Anne Lydia Bourke, daughter of Edmund Fearon Bourke and Mary Goodin, on 16 March 1809 at Exmouth, Devon, England.1 He died on 3 July 1850 at 6 Royal Crescent, Brighton, Sussex, England.1
     He graduated from Oriel College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1802 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He graduated from Oriel College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1805 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1805 entitled to practise as a barrister.1 He held the office of Recorder of Penang.1 He held the office of Senior Puisne Judge of the Supreme Court [Bombay].1 He was appointed Knight on 29 May 1817.1
