     Ian Robert Maxwell was born on 10 June 1923 at Solotvyno, Ukraine.2 He married Dr. Elisabeth Jenny Jeanne Meynard, daughter of Paul Meynard, in 1945.1 He died on 5 November 1991 at age 68, when he fell or jumped from his yacht off the Canary Isalnds.3
     He was given the name of Jan Ludwig Hoch at birth.3 Ian Robert Maxwell usually went by his middle name of Robert.1 He fought in the Second World War, with British Intelligence.3 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Labour) for Buckingham between 1964 and 1970.3 He was owner of Macmillan Inc, The Daily Mirror and The European.3 He was foundto have misappropriated the Mirror Group pension fund.3
