     He gained the rank of Flying Officer in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.¹ He graduated from London University, London, England, in 1923 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)¹ He graduated from Konigsberg University, Kaliningrad, Russia, in 1930 with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)¹

     Valentine Taupmann was the daughter of Theodor Taupmann.¹ She married Francis Anthony Roberts Carnegy, son of Robert Bower Carnegie and Fanny Jane Dodd, on 22 December 1925.¹ She died on 14 February 1969.¹
     From 22 December 1925, her married name became Carnegy.¹
