     Hugh Dudley Auchincloss, Jr. was born on 15 August 1897 at Hammersmith Farm, Newport, Rhode Island, U.S.A.^G.¹ He was the son of Hugh Dudley Auchincloss and Emma Judson Jennings.¹ He married, firstly, Maya de Chrapovitsky, daughter of Lt.-Col. Count Nicholas de Chrapovitsky and Margherita Taylor, on 4 June 1925.¹ He married, secondly, Nina S. Gore, daughter of Thomas Pryor Gore, in 1935.¹ He and Nina S. Gore were divorced in 1941.¹ He married, thirdly, Janet Norton Lee, daughter of James Thomas Lee and Margaret A. Merritt, on 21 June 1942.¹ He died on 20 November 1976 at age 79.¹
     He fought in the First World War, with the U.S. Navy.¹ He graduated from Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut, U.S.A.^G, in 1920.¹ He graduated from Columbia University, Manhattan, New York City, New York, U.S.A.^G, in 1924 with a in law.¹ He fought in the Second World War, with the Office of Naval Intelligence.¹
