Colonel Philip Rycaut1 
He was commissioned, in the service of the Sir Edward Cartereet’s Troop of Horse.1 He held the office of Consul-General in Algiers between 1683 and 1685.1 He fought in the Battle of Cork in 1690, where he was captured.1 He was taken to London on a charge of high treason, and was imprisoned in the Tower of London from which he escaped and returned to London.1 He was recaptured and escaped a second time.1 He joined King James II ar Versailles.1
