     James Clarke Shaw was born on 18 January 1865 at Tillicoultry, Clackmannanshire, Scotland.1 He was the son of James Shaw and Anne (?)1 He married Andella Stoddart Cockcroft, daughter of George Edmondson Cockcroft and Annie Hutchinson Lawson, in 1897 at Darlington, County Durham, England.1 He died on 26 May 1932 at age 67 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1
     He was with the Ministry of Education at Alexandria, Egypt.1
