     Vice-Admiral James Samuel Akid Dennis was born on 14 July 1809.1 He was the son of James Samuel Dennis.1 He was baptised on 19 May 1816 at St. Mary, Rotherhithe, London, England.1 He married Charlotte Catherine Parson, daughter of John Parson, on 5 September 1844 at Newton Abbot, Devon, England.1 He died on 9 February 1881 at age 71 at Rectory Cottage, Hanwell, London, England.1
     He gained the rank of Commander on 22 January 1841 in the Royal Navy.1 He gained the rank of Captain on 18 July 1857.1
