     Robert Balfour, 4th of Balbirnie was born in 1698.1 He was the son of George Balfour, 3rd of Balbirnie and Agnes Lumsdain.1 He married Ann Ramsay of Whitehill, daughter of Sir Andrew Ramsay, 4th Bt. and Elizabeth Learmonth, on 3 June 1736.1 He died in 1767.1

     Ann Ramsay of Whitehill was the daughter of Sir Andrew Ramsay, 4th Bt. and Elizabeth Learmonth.1 She married Robert Balfour, 4th of Balbirnie, son of George Balfour, 3rd of Balbirnie and Agnes Lumsdain, on 3 June 1736.1 She died in February 1766.2
     From 3 June 1736, her married name became Balfour.1
