Charles Powys was born on 4 March 1813.1 He was the son of Thomas Powys, 2nd Baron Lilford of Lilford and Henrietta Maria Atherton.1 He married, firstly, Mary Randoll Letitia Kennedy, daughter of William Scott Kennedy and Emma Lydia Gardiner, on 29 March 1836.1 He married, secondly, Agnes Anne Richards, daughter of John Richards and Anne Robyns Gurney, on 15 August 1854 at St. James’s Church, Westminster, London, England.1,2 He died on 16 October 1897 at age 84.1
     He gained the rank of officer in the Royal Navy.1 He fought in the Sikh War.1 He fought in the Indian Mutiny.1 He was Commander of the 9th Lancers at the Relief of Lucknow.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 9th Lancers.1

Charles Powys, son of Thomas Powys, 2nd Baron Lilford of Lilford and Henrietta Maria Atherton, on 29 March 1836.1 She died on 12 February 1854 at age 35, without issue.1
     From 29 March 1836, her married name became Powys.1
