     He gained the rank of Major in the 2nd Surrey Militia.¹

     Adelaide Maria Dalton was born in 1831.¹ She was the daughter of Christopher Dalton.¹ She married William Pontifex on 13 October 1849 at Watford, Hertfordshire, England.¹ She died in 1869.¹
