     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 4th Battalion, Devonshire Regiment.¹ He held the office of District Officer of Tanganyika between 1920 and 1940.¹

     Margaret Harriet Martin was the daughter of Robert Martin.¹ She married Hon. Francis Warwick Bampfylde, son of Augustus Frederick George Warwick Bampfylde, 2nd Baron Poltimore and Florence Sarah Wilhelmine Sheridan, on 30 June 1911.¹ She died on 13 May 1968.¹
     From 30 June 1911, her married name became Bampfylde.¹

     Robert Martin lived at Belfast, County Antrim, Ireland.¹

     Major John Augustus Frederick Warwick Bampfylde was born on 15 May 1912.¹ He was the son of Hon. Francis Warwick Bampfylde and Margaret Harriet Martin.¹ He died on 12 June 1944 at age 32 at Normandy, France, killed in action.¹
     He fought in the Second World War.¹ He gained the rank of Major in the 2nd Battalion, Devonshire Regiment (6th Airborne Division.)¹

     Caroline Warwick Bampfylde was born on 1 February 1920.¹ She was the daughter of Hon. Francis Warwick Bampfylde and Margaret Harriet Martin.¹ She married, firstly, W/Cdr Dean Lenthal Swifte, son of Alan Henry Swifte, on 3 June 1942.¹ She and W/Cdr Dean Lenthal Swifte were divorced in 1951.¹ She married Edward Foster James, son of Foster James, on 4 August 1951.¹ She died on 6 June 2005 at age 85 at Huntington House, England.²
     She served in the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force during the Second World War.¹ From 3 June 1942, her married name became Swifte.¹ From 4 August 1951, her married name became James.¹ She lived at Springfield House, West Clandon, Guildford, Surrey, England.¹

     W/Cdr Dean Lenthal Swifte is the son of Alan Henry Swifte.¹ He married Caroline Warwick Bampfylde, daughter of Hon. Francis Warwick Bampfylde and Margaret Harriet Martin, on 3 June 1942.¹ He and Caroline Warwick Bampfylde were divorced in 1951.¹
     He gained the rank of Wing Commander in the Royal Auxiliary Air Force.¹
