     He was educated at Dungannon Royal School, Dungannon, County Tyrone, Ireland.1 He graduated from Queen’s University, Belfast, County Antrim, Ireland, in 1930 with a Master of Science (M.Sc.)1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Squadron Leader of the Royal Air Force.1
