Maj.-Gen. Cecil Meadows Frith White was born on 29 August 1897.1 He was the son of Herbert Meadows Frith White and Annie Laura Borrett.3 He married Elizabeth Rennie Robertson, daughter of Dr. Herbert Rennie Robertson, on 26 March 1925.1 He died in 1985.2
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, London, England.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches six times.1 He was commander of the 4th Indian Division Signals between 1939 and 1941.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1941.1 He was Chief Signals Officer, East African Forces in 1941.1 He was Chief Signals Officer, 8th Army between 1941 and 1944.1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1943.1 He was Signal Officer in Charge of the 21st Army Group in 1944.1 He was awarded the Commander, U.S. Legion of Merit.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1945.1 He gained the rank of Major-General in the Royal Signals.1
