     He graduated from Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He lived at Clarencefield, Oxfordshire, England.¹ He was a financial journalist and corporate communications specialist.²

     James Reader Welch was born on 7 December 1868.¹ He was the son of George Welch and Catherine Gerard Sheppard.² He married Harriet Cullum, daughter of Benjamin Cullum, on 11 September 1894.¹ He died on 26 December 1944 at age 76.¹
     He was a practising solicitor.¹

     Harriet Cullum was the daughter of Benjamin Cullum.² She married James Reader Welch, son of George Welch and Catherine Gerard Sheppard, on 11 September 1894.¹ She died on 28 April 1953.¹

     Sir George James Cullum Welch, 1st Bt. was born on 20 October 1895.¹ He was the son of James Reader Welch and Harriet Cullum.² He married, firstly, Gertrude Evelyn Sladin Harrison, daughter of John William Harrison, on 23 April 1921.¹ He married, secondly, Irene Avril Foster, daughter of John Foster, on 25 February 1969.¹ He died on 28 July 1980 at age 84.¹
