     Dame Mary Mackenzie Anderson was born on 3 February 1916.¹ She was the daughter of John Anderson, 1st Viscount Waverley and Christina Mackenzie.² She married Frithjof Pihl on 8 July 1973.¹ She died on 18 June 2006 at age 90.³
     She was educated at Sutton High School, Sutton, Surrey, England.¹ She was educated at Brillamont, Lausanne, Switzerland.¹ She gained the rank of Brigadier in the Women’s Royal Army Corps.¹ She was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1958.¹ She held the office of Aide-de-Camp to HM Queen Elizabeth II between 1967 and 1970.¹ She was Director of Women’s Royal Army Corps between 1967 and 1970.¹ She was appointed Dame Commander, Order of the British Empire (D.B.E.) in 1970.¹ From 8 July 1973, her married name became Pihl.¹

     Frithjof Pihl married Dame Mary Mackenzie Anderson, daughter of John Anderson, 1st Viscount Waverley and Christina Mackenzie, on 8 July 1973.¹ He died in 1988.¹
