     He gained the rank of officer in 1941 in the Royal New Zealand Air Force.¹ He fought in the Second World War between 1941 and 1944.¹ He fought in the Korean War in 1950.¹

     John Rannie Ward was born on 11 August 1924.¹ He is the son of Sir Cyril Rupert Joseph Ward, 2nd Bt. and Elinor Angela Davidson.² He married Adrienne Lascelles Hill, daughter of Herbert Hill, on 2 April 1948.¹
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve.¹ He lived in 2003 at 47 Webb Street, Christchurch, New Zealand.¹

     Herbert Hill lived at Christchurch, New Zealand.¹ He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.)¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)¹

     Adrienne Lascelles Hill is the daughter of Herbert Hill.² She married John Rannie Ward, son of Sir Cyril Rupert Joseph Ward, 2nd Bt. and Elinor Angela Davidson, on 2 April 1948.¹
     From 2 April 1948, her married name became Ward.

     Jeremy John Ward was born on 20 February 1957.¹ He is the son of John Rannie Ward and Adrienne Lascelles Hill.² He married Anne Susan Lockhart in 1985.¹
