     He gained the rank of Warrant Officer in the South African Air Force.1 He fought in the Second World War, in the Middle East, Malta, Sicily and Italy, and was mentioned in dispatches.1 He lived in 2003 at 14b Glen Vista Place, Glenfield, Auckland, New Zealand.1
