She graduated from Somerville College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Doctor of Philosophy (D.Phil.)¹ She was Professor of Animal Behaviour in 1997.¹

     Clinton John Dawkins was born on 14 February 1915.² He was the son of Clinton George Evelyn Dawkins and Frances Enid Smythies.² He married Jean Mary Vyvyan Ladner, daughter of Alan Wilfred Ladner, in 1939.³ He died in 2010.⁴
