General Sir Collingwood Dickson, V.C.1 
General Sir Collingwood Dickson, V.C. was born on 20 November 1817 at Valenciennes, France.1 He was the son of General Sir Alexander Dickson and Eulalia Brionès.1 He was baptised on 14 September 1826 at St. Marys, Portsea, Hampshire, England.1 He married Harriet Burnaby, daughter of Reverend Thomas Burnaby and Margaret (?), in 1847 at Barrow-on-Soar, Leicestershire, EnglandG.2 He died in 1904.1
He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant on 18 December 1835 in the Royal Artillery.1 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, London, England.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant on 29 November 1837.1 He fought in the Crimean War between June 1854 and July 1855.1 He was awarded the Victoria Cross (V.C.) on 23 June 1855.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) on 17 November 1875.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General on 8 June 1876.1 He gained the rank of General on 1 October 1877.1
