     He was memb Royal County Archers, WW I with 5th Battalion Cameronians, WW II as Lieutenant-Colonel on Staff, USA Bronze Star Medal (1945), Norwegian Freedom Cross (1945), Dean Royal Faculty Procurators Glasgow 1962–65 Medal 1945.¹ He was Writer to the Signet (W.S.)¹ He was Military Cross (M.C.) in 1917.¹ He graduated in 1933 with a Rugby and Trin College Cambridge Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ ) He was Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1942.¹
