     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 3rd Battalion, Suffolk Regiment.1

     Sir Alexander Young Spearman, 3rd Bt. was born on 19 June 1881.1 He is the son of Sir Joseph Layton Elmes Spearman, 2nd Bt. and Ethel Leask.2 He married Dorothy Catherine Bower, daughter of Captain Thomas Bowyer Bower, on 25 October 1909.1 He died on 11 February 1959 at age 77.1
     He was educated at Stubbington House School, Fareham, Hampshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Tonbridge School, Tonbridge, Kent, England.1 He was consulting mining engineer, Ministry of Munitions between 1914 and 1918.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Spearman [U.K., 1840] on 11 February 1922.1

     Ethel Nest Spearman was born on 31 October 1884.1 She was the daughter of Sir Joseph Layton Elmes Spearman, 2nd Bt. and Ethel Leask.2 She married Major Geoffrey Stirling Newall, son of Frederick Stirling Newall and Helen Frances Heaton, on 12 April 1910.1 She died on 13 June 1968 at age 83.1
     From 12 April 1910, her married name became Newall. She was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1918.1
