Sir Edward Dodsworth, 2nd Bt. was born on 13 August 1768.1 He was the son of Sir John Silvester Smith, 1st Bt. and Henrietta Maria Dodsworth.2 He married Susannah Dawkins, daughter of Colonel Henry Dawkins and Lady Juliana Colyear, on 22 September 1804.1 He died on 31 December 1845 at age 77, without issue.1
He was given the name of Edward Smith at birth.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Smith, of Newland Park and Thornton Watlass, co. York [G.B., 1784] on 15 June 1789.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 105th Foot.1 In 1821 his name was legally changed to Edward Dodsworth by Royal Licence.1
