Sir John Beresford Sinclair-Lockhart of Castle Hill, 13th Bt. was born on 4 November 1904. He was the son of Sir Robert Duncan Sinclair-Lockhart of Castle Hill, 11th Bt. and Flora Louisa Jane Beresford Nation Power.2 He married Winifred Ray Cavaghan, daughter of Tom Ray Cavaghan, on 22 October 1949.1 He died on 11 March 1970 at age 65, without issue.1
He was educated at King’s College, Auckland, New ZealandG.1 He graduated from Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) (Civil.)1 He graduated from Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) (Physics.)1 He was a civil engineer at New Zealand.1 He was with the Colonial Administration Service between 1934 and 1963.1 He was awarded the Efficiency Decoration (E.D.)1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Artillery.1 He succeeded as the 13th Baronet Sinclair [N.S., 1636] on 15 February 1959.1
