     William Graham Shaughnessy, 3rd Baron Shaughnessy was born on 28 March 1922.1 He is the son of William James Shaughnessy, 2nd Baron Shaughnessy and Marion Graham.2 He married Mary Whitley, daughter of John Whitley, on 18 March 1944.1 He died on 22 May 2003 at age 81.1
     He was educated at Bishop’s College School, Montreal, Quebec, CanadaG.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Shaughnessy, of Montreal, Canada and Ashford, co. Limerick [U.K., 1916] on 4 October 1938.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Canadian Grenadier Guards.1 He graduated from Bishop’s University, Sherbrooke, Quebec, CanadaG, in 1941 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He graduated from Columbia University, Manhattan, New York City, New York, U.S.A., in 1947 with a Master of Science (M.Sc.)1 He was executive assistant to the Canadian Minister of Finance between 1949 and 1951.1 He was awarded the Canadian Decoration (C.D.) in 1955.1 He was President of the Royal Commonwealth Society, Montreal between 1959 and 1961.1
