He was educated at Wellington College, Crowthorne, Berkshire, England.2 He fought in the Second World War.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Artillery (Territorial Army.)2 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.) in 1952.2 He succeeded as the 21st Baron Saint John of Bletso, co. Bedford [E., 1559] on 13 April 1976.2 He succeeded as the 18th Baronet St. John, of Woodford, Northamptonshire [E., 1660] on 13 April 1976.2
