     Air Commodore John William Boldero Grigson was born on 26 January 1893 at Pelynt, Cornwall, England.1 He was the son of Canon William Shuckforth Grigson and Mary Beatrice Boldero.1 He married Mary Isabel Sayle on 8 February 1933.1 He died on 3 July 1943 at age 50 at Harare, Zimbabwe, in a flying accident.1
     He was commissioned in 1916, in the service of the Royal Naval Air Service.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (D.F.C.) in 1918 and two bars (1919 and 1921.)2 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1920.1
