S/Ldr. Lanoe George Hawker, V.C. was born on 31 December 1890.1 He was the son of Henry Colley Hawker and Julia Gordon Lanoe Hawker.1 He died on 23 November 1917 at age 26 at Bapaume, France, killed in action, being shot down by Baron von Richtofen.1
He gained the rank of Cadet in the Royal Engineers.2 He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Captain in October 1914 in the No. 6 Squadron, Royal Flying Corps.2 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)1 He was awarded the Victoria Cross (V.C.) in 1915.1 He gained the rank of Squadron Leader in the Royal Flying Corps.1
