     He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Norfolk.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for the County of London.¹ He was chairman of Phoenix Assurance.¹ He was appointed Knight in 1911.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Ryan, of Hintlesham, co. Suffolk [U.K.] on 8 September 1919.¹ He held the office of High Sheriff of Suffolk in 1920.¹

     Sir Gerald Ellis Ryan, 2nd Bt. was born on 17 August 1888 at Kensington, London, England.^1,2 He was the son of Sir Gerald Hemmington Ryan, 1st Bt. and Ellen Amelia Ellis.³ He married Hylda Winifryde Herapath, daughter of Major Spencer John Herapath and Ada Mary Oakes, on 17 February 1914 at Holy Trinity Church, Brompton, London, England.^1,2 He died on 1 September 1947 at age 59 at 23 Bentinck Street, Marylebone, London, England.²
     He graduated from Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He was admitted to Inner Temple entitled to practise as a barrister.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Ryan, of Hintlesham, co. Suffolk [U.K., 1919] on 27 May 1937.¹

     Vivian Desmond Ryan was born on 7 September 1893.¹ He was the son of Sir Gerald Hemmington Ryan, 1st Bt. and Ellen Amelia Ellis.² He married, firstly, Kathleen Frances Helps, daughter of James William Helps, on 20 September 1917.¹ He married, secondly, Nanny Slater, daughter of Dixon Slater, on 11 April 1946.¹ He died on 25 February 1950 at age 56.¹
