Sir Jonathon Espie Porritt, 2nd Bt. was born on 6 July 1950.1 He is the son of Arthur Espie Porritt, Baron Porritt and Kathleen Mary Peck.3 He married Sarah Elizabeth Staniforth, daughter of Malcolm Staniforth, in 1986.1
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He graduated from Magdalen College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was a teacher between 1975 and 1984 at Inner London Education Authority, London, England.1 He was a member of the council of the Ecology Party.1 He was a member of the council of the Ecology Party between 1982 and 1984.1 He wrote the book Seeing Green – the Politics of Ecology, published 1984.1 He was director of Friends of the Earth between 1984 and 1990.1 He wrote the book Friends of the Earth Handbook, published 1987.1 He wrote the book The Coming of the Greens, published 1988.1 He was the presenter of BBC TV’s Where On Earth Are We Going?
