     Hon. Mary Harriet Hepburne-Scott was born on 21 May 1877.1 She was the daughter of Walter Hugh Hepburne-Scott, 8th Lord Polwarth and Lady Mary Gordon.2 She died on 25 June 1964 at age 87, unmarried.1
     She held the office of Deaconess of the Church of Scotland.1 She was a missionary in 1905 at India.1 She was Principal of the Instiution for the Blind at Kalimpong, West Bengal, India.1 She was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Divinity (D.D.) by St. Andrew’s University, St. Andrews, Fife, ScotlandG, in 1937.1 She was awarded the Kaisar-I-Hind medal, 1st Class.1 She was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1952.1
