     He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England^G.¹ He graduated from University College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, in 1908 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)¹ He was an artist.¹ He was with the National Gallery.¹ He was appointed Honorary Member, Royal Society of Painters in Water Colours (R.W.S.)¹ He was appointed Fellow, Royal College of Music (R.C.M.)¹ He wrote commentaries on drawings for the Oxford University Press.¹ He wrote the book Moveable Feasts.¹

     Marjorie Freeland was the daughter of Alexander Freeland.² She married Hon. Arnold Nottage Palmer, son of Samuel Ernest Palmer, 1st Baron Palmer and Amy Christiana Nottage, on 19 June 1911.¹ She died on 5 April 1966.¹
     From 19 June 1911, her married name became Palmer.¹

     Susan Helen Palmer was born on 3 April 1912.¹ She is the daughter of Hon. Arnold Nottage Palmer and Marjorie Freeland.²

     Nancy Gillian Palmer usually went by her middle name of Gillian.¹ From 19 October 1943, her married name became Pilkington.¹ She lived at Appledown, Frilsham, Hermitage, Berkshire, England.¹

     Colonel Lionel George Pilkington was the son of Charles George Pilkington.² He married Evelyn Carnegie Bethune, daughter of Sir Alexander Sharp Bethune of Scotscraig, 9th Bt. and Elizabeth Carnegie Maitland-Heriot, on 13 July 1915.¹ He died on 1 May 1955.²
     He gained the rank of Colonel in the THe Royal Warwickshire Regiment.² He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)¹

     David Charles Bethune Pilkington was born on 15 April 1916.² He is the son of Colonel Lionel George Pilkington and Evelyn Carnegie Bethune.^3,1 He married Nancy Gillian Palmer, daughter of Hon. Arnold Nottage Palmer and Marjorie Freeland, on 19 October 1943.¹
     He was educated at Sherborne School, Sherborne, Dorset, England.² He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Artillery.² He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1954.¹
