He was educated at The Royal College of St. Peter in Westminster, London, England.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve (R.N.V.R.)1 He fought in the Second World War, he was mentioned in despatches.1 In 1955 his name was legally changed to John Hatherley David Page Wood.2 He succeeded as the 7th Baronet Wood, of Hatherley House, co. Gloucester [U.K., 1837] on 2 April 1955.1
