Alastair John George Malcolm Napier was born on 9 June 1909 at Wokingham, Berkshire, England.1,2 He was the son of Francis Edward Basil Napier, 12th Lord Napier of Merchistoun and Hon. Clarice Jessie Evelyn Hamilton.3 He married Geraldine Dunlop, daughter of James Dunlop, on 6 May 1933.1 He died on 29 February 1984 at age 74 at Wetheral, Cumberland, England.1,2
     He was educated at Sherborne School, Sherborne, Dorset, England.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Engineers.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.) in 1947.1 He was with the Kenya Minstry of Works between 1950 and 1965.1
