Obituary:
Craven Herald, 15th Setember 1911.
The death under peculiarly sad circumstances of Mr.Malcolm Petyt of Storiths, which took place on Sunday p.m. at the Ilkley Coronation Hospital, has cast quite a gloom over the neighbourhood. Deceased was the only son of the late Mr.Sylvester Petyt, farmer and was only married at the begining of June last, his bride being Miss Lizzie Cockshott of Low Field, Beamsley. Mr. Petyt had been ailing since July, having it was surmised, over exerted himself during haytime on the farm of which he was joint tenant with his mother. On the advice of Dr’s Bates and Crabtree he was removed to Ilkley Hospital about three weeks ago in order that he might have more regular treatment, and although from the first his ailment was pronounced serious, hope was not abandoned until the day of his death, when the end came unexpectedly, the immediate cause of death being acute inflamation of the pancreas. He was 40 years of age, and the greatest sympathy is manifested on all hands with the bereaved wife and mother in their irreparable loss. He had for some time acted as a sidesman of the Abbey Church, and was held in the highest esteem amongst his neighbours, by whom his untimely death is sincerely regretted.
The internment took place at Bolton Abbey, yesterday, Thursday afternoon, the Rev. J.W.Hall, Rector of Addingham, officiating.
