     Reverend Hugh Macleod Burns was born in 1863 at Hampstead, London, England.¹ He was the son of Reverend James Drummond Burns and Margaret Macdonald.¹ He married Mary Edith Lyall on 6 June 1894 at Flinders Street presbyterian Church, Adelaide, South Australia, Australia.¹ He died circa 9 April 1939 at Victoria, Australia.¹ He was buried on 12 April 1939 at Brighton Cemetery, Brighton, Victoria, Australia.¹
