He was educated at Malvern College, Malvern, Worcestershire, EnglandG.2 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He was commissioned in 1932, in the service of the The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles.)2 He fought in the Second World War, in Italy and Europe.2 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1958.2
