William Macfie was born on 18 May 1776.1 He was the son of Robert Macfie of Langhouse and Mary Andrew.1 He married, firstly, Jessie Johnston on 18 April 1808.1 He married, secondly, Janet Marshall, daughter of Claud Marshall and Janet Fairie, on 30 August 1819.1 He died on 11 November 1854 at age 78 at Langhouse, Scotland.1
