     He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of West Gloucestershire.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for West Gloucestershire between 1868 and 1874.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Stroud between 1875 and 1880.¹ He lived at Sedbury Park, Gloucestershire, England.¹ He lived at Stanley Park, Gloucestershire, England.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Marling, of Stanley Park and Sedbury Park, co. Gloucester [U.K.] on 22 May 1882.¹

     Esther Marling was born on 28 July 1805.¹ She was the daughter of William Marling and Sarah Hillman.² She married Reverend James Gallaway on 22 September 1835.¹ She died on 30 October 1836 at age 31, without issue.¹
     From 22 September 1835, her married name became Gallaway.

     Reverend James Gallaway married Esther Marling, daughter of William Marling and Sarah Hillman, on 22 September 1835.¹

     Sarah Marling was born on 1 July 1814.¹ She was the daughter of William Marling and Sarah Hillman.² She married James Apperly on 11 October 1842.¹ She died on 25 January 1900 at age 85.¹
     From 11 October 1842, her married name became Apperly.

     William Bentley Cartwright was born circa 1780.² He married Susan Auther Williams.² He died on 3 September 1869 at The Field, Stroud, Gloucestershire, England.²
     He lived at Devizes, Wiltshire, England.¹

     Margaret Williams Cartwright was born on 2 July 1815 at St. George the Martyr, London, England.^1,2 She was the daughter of William Bentley Cartwright and Susan Auther Williams.^3,2 She was baptised on 14 December 1830 at London, England.² She married Sir Samuel Stephens Marling, 1st Bt., son of William Marling and Sarah Hillman, on 23 September 1834.¹ She died on 13 April 1885 at age 69.¹
     From 23 September 1834, her married name became Marling.

     Major Francis Peter MacIntyre married Evelyn Mary Josephine Synnott, daughter of Nicholas Joseph Synnott and Barbara Louisa Mary Netterville.²
     He gained the rank of Major in the 14th/20th Hussars.¹ He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.)¹

     Charles Marling was born on 25 April 1837.¹ He was the son of Sir Samuel Stephens Marling, 1st Bt. and Margaret Williams Cartwright.² He died on 30 November 1862 at age 25, unmarried.¹
