He held the office of Sheriff of Shropshire in 1101.1 Before 1122 he founded Sporle Priory, Norfolk as a cell of St. Saumur of Brittany.3

William fitz Alan1 
He gained the title of Lord of Oswestrie, Shropshire [feudal barony].1 He held the office of Sheriff of Shropshire in 1138.2 He was besieged at Castlelan Shrewsbury as an adherent to Empress Maud by King Stephen.2 In 1155 he was restored to his lands by King Henry II.2

Walter Stewart, Earl of Menteith1 
Walter Stewart, Earl of Menteith also went by the nick-name of Walter ‘Ballach’ (or in English, Walter ‘the Freckled.1‘) In 1248 He allegedly went on Crusade with King Louis IX of France.3 After his marriage, Walter Stewart, Earl of Menteith was styled as Earl of Menteith circa 1260, suo uxoris.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Ayrshire in 1264.3 He held the office of Sheriff of Dunbartonshire in 1289.3
