     John Macnab of that Ilk, 15th Chief was born in 1698.1 He was the son of Robert Macnab of that Ilk, 14th Chief and Anna Campbell.2 He married Jean Buchanan, daughter of Francis Buchanan of Arnprior.1 He died on 19 February 1778.1
     He gained the rank of Major in 1745 in the King’s Army.1

     Maj.-Gen. Archibald Macnab was the son of Robert Macnab of that Ilk, 14th Chief and Anna Campbell.2 He died on 2 January 1790, unmarried.1
     He gained the rank of Ensign in 1739 in the Black Watch.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Captain in the Loudon’s Highlanders.1 He fought in the Battle of Prestonpans in 1745, where he was taken priosner.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 32rd Regiment.1 He gained the rank of Major in 1759 in the Campbell’s (88th) Highlanders.1 He fought in the Battle of Vellinghausen in July 1761, where he was wounded.1 He gained the rank of Additional Lieutenant-Colonel in 1762.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1767 in the 41st (Invalids) Regiment.1 He gained the rank of Brevet Colonel in 1777.1 He gained the rank of Major-General in 1781.1
