Sir John Macartney, 3rd Bt. was born on 10 October 1832.1 He was the son of Rev. Sir William Isaac Macartney, 2nd Bt. and Ellen Barrington.2 He married Catherine Miller, daughter of Alexander Miller, on 1 September 1865.1 He died on 7 December 1911 at age 79.1
He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Macartney, of Lish, co. Armagh [I., 1799] on 31 July 1867.1
