Charles MacAlister of Loup and Kennox1

     Charles MacAlister of Loup and Kennox was born on 13 January 1765.1 He was the son of Angus MacAlister of Loup and Jane MacDonald.2 He married Janet Somerville, daughter of William Somerville of Kennox and Lilian Porterfield, on 28 March 1792.1 He died in October 1847 at age 82.1
     He was Lieutenant-Colonel of the 1st Ayrshire Local Militia.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Ayrshire.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Ayrshire.1 He held the position of Chief of McAlester in Kintyre from in 1847.1 He was recognised by Lord Lyon King of Arms, and matriculated his arms at the Lyons Court on 29 July 1847.1
