     Lt.-Cdr. Francis Barchard was born on 22 August 1903.² He was the son of Francis Barchard.¹ He married Joan Harriet Fitz-Clarence, daughter of Brig.-Gen. Charles Fitz-Clarence, V.C. and Violet Spencer-Churchill, on 30 March 1933.¹ He died on 25 November 1941 at age 38, killed in action.¹
     He fought in the Second World War.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Commander in the Royal Navy.¹

     Francis Barchard held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)¹ He lived at Horsted Place, Uckfield, Sussex, England^G.¹

     Geoffrey Ewart Martin is the son of Milton Ewart Martin.¹ He married Jane Anne Violet Barchard, daughter of Lt.-Cdr. Francis Barchard and Joan Harriet Fitz-Clarence, on 10 March 1962.¹
